There are more than 24 different beaches along the coast, many of which are Blue Flag, meaning they are of the highest quality when it comes to the environment, quality of the water and amenities. From many of these beaches, activities such as snorkelling, diving, wind and kite surfing and sailing are available. There are many beachfront restaurants and bars too, ideal for soaking up the sun whilst enjoying a cool cocktail. There are a number of family-friendly beaches as well as party beaches, as well as more secluded areas with warm shallow waters, providing a little something for everyone. When you don’t fancy a day at the beach, there is plenty of golf to be played among the many courses, including Santa Maria Golf, Santa Clara Golf, Aloha Golf and several others. A round played under the Mediterranean sun can be capped off with a delicious lunch, and many dishes will feature freshly-caught fish along with traditional dishes like tapas.

Arguably the best views of Marbella are available from atop La Concha (“the shell”), a mountain towering 1,200m over the area. Located in the Sierra Blanca mountain range, this peak has clearly defined walkways along with guided tours available. It is not a hard walk although it certainly is a long one – but the views will be worth it; from the summit, you can see across the Costa del Sol region and, on a clear day, as far as Gibraltar and North Africa.
